Vintage and Urban Exploring

I recently took some promotional photos for a friends new business: Ragbag Vintage. Her main goal is to provide timeless pieces and to make people aware that shopping vintage is environmentally friendly, also the whole shop local thing comes into play here. She sells at popup events (think the night market) and you can find her rolling around Lexington in her vintage camper selling merchandise.

ROMPfest in Owensboro

Music and art have always moved me. In childhood, I would tell you my favorite class in school was Art. I liked to paint, sculpt, and color my world. In middle and high school I would tell you I loved theater as I was a member of Youth Theatre of Hardin County, tap dance instructor at our local dance studio, and dance captain of our high school show choir. I loved music. It moved me.

Now, as a 27-year-old adult it still moves me. Last weekend it moved me to Owensboro, Kentucky to cover ROMP for Explore Kentucky.

ROMP: River of Music Party (This Week)

Since 2012 I have traveled to Owensboro every June to attend the ROMP Fest. So you might call me an expert. I've been to 10 music festivals in my short 27 years on this Earth. ROMP or the River of Music Party (as it was originally dubbed) is a Bluegrass Music Festival at Yellow Creek Park in Owensboro, Kentucky and is in it's 12th year.

A Visit to Wigwam Village

In our day & age, it is knee-jerk to make mountains out of molehills or walk on egg-shells around topics of racism. Is a man creating a motel pattern after a Sioux tribe racist or was he simply replicating a culture he admired you'd decide.

Chasing Waterfalls

I don't follow TLC's advice, I live to " chase waterfalls" . As a hiker and adventurer, they are part of natural obsessions. This past Sunday I felt an urge to get my waterfall fix so I took a short trip to Raven Run Nature Sanctuary,  which is located just outside of Lexington, KY.

Kayak Kentucky: A different place, at a different pace.

I’m a Kentucky girl. And I love this land like the desert loves the rain. I thrive off of it. Our land's geography is so amazingly diverse from east to west and I retreat to it when I need to steady my soul.  I love hiking and repelling the mountains and forests, driving the winding one lane back roads, exploring caves and roaming Kentucky everywhere in between.

The Secrets of Old Richardsville Road Bridge

Built in 1889 by the King Iron Company of Cleveland, Ohio, this bridge, running across the Barren River, on the outskirts of Bowling Green, KY is one of the last bridges of its kind. For those of you who might know a thing or two about architecture, this is a span bowstring, arch-truss bridge that spans 138.1 ft. The bridge was inducted into the National Register of Historic Places in November of 1980. Thanks to local entrepreneur David Garvin (recently deceased 1943-2014, may he rest is peace), the bridge was kept up with regular repairs, and is still in use daily by area natives.

The Hidden Gem of the Mountains

I'm from a small town in Eastern Kentucky called Jenkins. I don't get to go home often, but I recently took a trip there, and ended up having several sessions. I like using a model to test out new locations, and that's what Ashley helped me do. We went to Fish Pond Lake to scout out the area, and so that I could figure out some poses for an upcoming senior.
