5th Annual Bluegrass River Run

We would like to extend a big thank you to the over 120+ paddlers who attended the 5th Annual Bluegrass River Run from over 10 states and helped to make this event a wonderful success! This year's event included three different "micro adventures" - the 14 Mile Boonesborough to Valley View Challenge, the 6 Mile Boonesborough to Proud Mary Dash, and the 6 Mile Scenic River Float. As we emerge from the pandemic and a national reckoning on racial justice, our goal is to continue curating the BRR to be an inclusive, sustainable, healthy, and fun space that celebrates Kentucky’s namesake river.

Additionally, we want to give a huge shout out and express our appreciation to our sponsors and partners. The success of this event could not have happened without their support: Richmond Kentucky Tourism, Proud Mary BBQ, East Kentucky Power Cooperative, Third Rock Consultants, Gresham Smith, Sweetgrass Granola, Internet Kentucky, Waterfront Grille and Gathering, and Fort Boonesborough State Park.

We’re also very appreciative of our livery partners: Mike's Hike And Bike, Asbury University Center for Adventure Leadership, and Get Outside KY for providing nearly 30 paddlecraft for rental. This is a very important service, which allows people who are interested in paddling to gain more experience and access to the water.

Last, but certainly not least (!!!!!), big ups to all of wonderful volunteers and new staff member, Amanda Rogers Strunk for helping to make the BRR run smoothly!

By the way if you missed the BRR this year, don't fret we will back in May 2022 with our 6th annual edition! To connect with us, learn about future events, and get updates: www.explorekentucky.us
